July 2004

Paint something every day. Good advice, no matter what the creative endeavor, and this July finds Marilyn dutifully trying to keep to the task. As a matter of fact, if you don't hear from us for awhile, we're painting.

June 2004

The Art Encounter & Silent Auction benefit for Recordings for the Blind in Claremont over Memorial Day weekend was a tremendous success. Don't miss this event next year! The quality of the vast majority of the art showcased was impressive. Though many a bargain was enjoyed by attendees -- the high quality of the frames and framing alone made for some extra special buys -- the organization nonetheless enjoyed a healthy contribution. In other words, a "win-win-win" proposition for everybody. And speaking of healthy contributions, Milton Zornes attended and was looking and feeling very well, despite just having returned from traveling abroad.

Happily, Marilyn's husband Malcolm continues to make a splendid recovery from a stroke earlier this year. As things return to normal, Marilyn is looking forward to finding more time to paint.

May 2004

A very special event will be taking place over Memorial Day weekend. An Art Encounter & Silent Auction will be held to benefit Recordings for the Blind & Dyslexic at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, CA. Marilyn, Milton Zornes and many other very well known watercolor artists will be represented and many will attend! There will be a Preview and Presentation on Saturday afternoon, followed by the Auction on Sunday. For more information, download this PDF .

April 2004

Marilyn enjoyed a special few days with other watercolorists at the Kanuga Retreat, in the hills above Hendersonville, NC (near Ashville). Look for new works to appear from this trip soon!

March 2004

Marilyn is busy as ever! After holding a workshop for her own students in Brentwood in early March, Marilyn is preparing for another watercolorists workshop in the Carolinas in a couple of weeks.

February 2004

The work of the more than 30 artists who traveled to Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley with Milton Zornes in October will be showcased in February at the Fine Artists Factory in Pasadena, California. The exhibition runs from February 2-15, and there will be an opportunity to meet the artists on Saturday, February 7, 2004 from 4-7 PM. Marilyn will be there, and we know you will enjoy the artists' interpretations of these majestic locations.

January 2004

There is not enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done! The New Year finds Marilyn scrambling to make enough time to paint, and it is frustrating! Particularly since so much inspiration came from Zornes and the Canyon de Chelly visit, in which Marilyn was treated by a Navajo family to a glimpse of the sacred lands that few if any non-Natives ever see. Marilyn is also in the process of setting up her shows for 2004, so look for more information about that soon!

December 2003

Very best wishes to all for a joyous and peaceful Holiday Season! In the months to come, look for more and more of Marilyn's work here, as we continue to undertake the huge task of capturing it properly with today's advanced digital photography. Access to a 6.3 megapixel camera, and most of all the person with the expertise to use it, will certainly help!

November 2003

With fresh inspiration from Zornes and the workshop in a legendary setting, Marilyn is busily at work on a number of new paintings. Look for some of this work to appear here soon!

October 2003

Marilyn's show at the 17th Street Cafe in Santa Monica ran for two months and was a rousing success!

Later this month, Marilyn will be participating in a workshop held by the legendary watercolorist Milford Zornes, at the sacred Canyon de Chelly of the Navajo nation. For those relatively new to watercolors, Milford Zornes is one of America's preeminent watercolor artists and teachers, and a leading figure in the California Style watercolor movement. His watercolors are represented in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Library of Congress Collection, and the White House. We are happy to say that Milford is once again painting as well as he ever has, at age 95.
