More About Marilyn Hoeck Neal

Since early childhood, painting and drawing have been a great joy to Marilyn Hoeck Neal. In "painting in the spirit of beauty", she strives as an artist to work in the creative flow and reflect essences of the beauty in the world that surrounds us all.

Marilyn's formal education includes a BFA from Cal State L.A. with graduate work at USC and UCLA. She has subsequently studied at Atleier of London, the Vladimar Tretchikoff School of Painting in South Africa, and La Esuela de Artes Plasticas in Mexico City, where muralist Diego Rivera and other famous artists were instructors. Marilyn continues to study with well-known artists, including the October, 2003 workshop with the legendary Milford Zornes.

Marilyn has twice served as Artist-in-Residence at Yosemite National Park, and represented the U.S. at the official watercolor show of the Seoul Olympics.

She has also had over thirty one-woman shows throughout the world. These include:

Invitational shows, at the National Gallery of Taipei, and at the Centre International d'Art Contemporain in Paris.
Numerous shows throughout Japan, including shows in Osaka and Ashiya, as well as Tokyo.
Many shows in Hong Kong, over a ten year period, represented by Alvin Gallery and the Hong Kong American Club.
Two shows in Berlin, including one sponsored by Kunsthandlung Armin Graff of Karlsruhe, Germany.
Shows in Canada at the Gallery Gabor in Toronto.
Shows in Malaysia, in Alor Setar at the Regina Gallery, and in the Royal City of Selangor at the Shah Alam Gallery.
A show and demonstration in Brunei for the art staff of the Sultan of Brunei.

Marilyn believes that art belongs to the whole world, and vanishes barriers to bring us truth, beauty and goodness. It is her great pleasure to be able to share her work with you.
